11/03/17 - Woodbridge, Konold’s Pond with scoped views from the West Rock ridge top (9:25 A.M.-10:10 A.M.) —
Growing numbers of waterfowl on Konold’s Pond, including a pair of Mute Swans, small numbers of Canada Geese, 50+ Ring-necked Ducks, 30+ Mallards, at least 6 American Black Ducks, 8 Gadwall, a pair of Wood Ducks, a handsome drake Northern Pintail (north of the island and near the west side of the pond), also 20+ American Coot. In addition, two Red-tailed Hawks, a pair of Peregrine Falcons in close flight, several Turkey Vultures, and the resident male Common Raven kronking from the tall radio tower. Sadly, the City of New Haven parking lot, now chained off, is littered with broken auto window glass and yet another illegal dumping of construction debris (out of someone’s remodeled kitchen).
