10/4/2024 Harris Reserve and Municipal Area, East Haddam.  I hit PAY DIRT at the community garden hotspot!  A CONNECTICUT WARBLER was seen and audio recorded.  I was participating in this Harvest project for fun not really expecting any rarities but now it reminds me of a rarity roundup.  From the parking area walking south with the community garden on the right it was in the large 5+acre field at the end of the dirt road.  The path through the field is not mowed so I had to bush whack it waist deep in thorns etc.  I was trying to find the connecting trail to the woods but got Interrupted by the CT Warbler in the back corner.  I returned with a camera but it was gone.  I never found the side trail.  New town bird for me, my 3rd CT Warbler this season.    I haven’t trimmed the audio yet but it is the “witch” call mixed in with some towhees in my eBird report.  I don’t know if it is chasable as I couldn’t relocate it, but the hotspot map can be accessed from the eBird report.

The parcel is a conglomeration of Capt George Comer Memorial State Park, Harris Reserve, the Municipal Area, and East Haddam Community Garden all tightly connected together.  There is no walking within the garden, but good viewing from the perimeter.  I thought the field had CT Warbler potential but certainly was not expecting it on my only 3rd visit to this lot.
