A quick look at the charger for my MacBook Pro 13 shows an output voltage of 16.5V@3.65A. I electrically challenged and don't know how that will work with 12V.
Having said that, Blue Seas makes a 12V receptacle that sports two USB plugs. If it will work, that would be an elegant way to keep things tidy.

Randy, you need to look at the output voltage for the 2 USB plugs on the
receptacle at which you are looking. USB chargers typically output only
5 volts at 1 or 2 amps.

On the other end of the line, you need to determine how little/much
current your laptop needs. Just because the output of the "brick" is
16.5V doesn't necessarily mean that your laptop requires that much to
operate.

A few years back I bought a power supply with a 12 volt plug on one end
(for those "cigarette lighter" receptacles), a very small "brick," and
interchangeable tips for the laptop end. Think it might be a Targus but
it's on the boat in Carrabelle. I used it on two different laptops over
the years by changing the tips. Newer laptops take even less
voltage/amperage but I'm still using it with my 8 year old Toshiba that
is our "navigation" laptop.

My new HP ultrabook (everything but navigation) would easily work with
the 12 volt supply if I could find a tip that would fit.

Hi Randy,

For my 15" MacBook Pro w/ Retina display, I use the following:

http://store.marinebeam.com/macbook-magsafe-12vdc-charger.html

With:

http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD504ZM/A/magsafe-to-magsafe-2-converter?fnode=5a

Connected to a 12v cig lighter outlet in the pilot house.

Used this combo all last year without issues.
