Well, my siskins were back up to 325 today along with 23 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS. Both species are almost spastic in their feeding and seem go go at it for a very short time and then all blast off and out of site for a while. This morning we had 12 Rusty's for a short while but left for most of the day. Right now at 5:10 there are 23 of them on the ground when we just got in.

Roy asked me to send this to the group. It has to do with the number of
records that exist for Thayer's Gull for CT. To the best of my ability, the
recent adult and 1st year at Windsor are the 4th and 5th records. There is
a record of an adult from the Shelton Landfill (David Sibley), a first year
at Manchester ( Szantyr, Comins, et al), and a first year at Southbury
(Housatonic River; Szantyr, Hanisek). These three are accepted by the ARCC.
The recent two (three???) have not been adjudicated.

Thanks Mark. Interesting post. Could you expand on the dates of all three of the earlier records?

CT Birders -
We are full steam ahead planning our Fourth Annual Benefit Dinner and Auction on Sunday March 29 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville. So many of TRW’s friends have returned each year for a fun-filled afternoon of delicious food, good company and fantastic bargains at our silent and live auction! This year we hope to entice newcomers – who may have been tempted to come but couldn’t or didn’t – we hope this year you will attend and become part of our special day.
Our organization continues to be funded by donations from caring individuals who bring in sick and injured songbirds. But most of our fundraising is through this event, so its success is critical! Tough economic times make it all the more important that we each do what we can to ensure that TRW will still be here, continuing to rehabilitate and release songbirds and GCN species back into our backyards and their own native habitats. Think of your favorites – orioles, warblers, bluebirds, woodpeckers…if you and I don’t do it, who will?
If you are unable to attend, please consider making a contribution to support our efforts. Or, donate an item for our auction We gratefully acknowledge all our donors in our Program Booklet.
Or, consider becoming a sponsor for the event. Sponsorships help alleviate event costs, such as the auctioneer, food, drinks, art framing and all the basket supplies which make the beautiful displays!
Sponsorship levels begin at $250 for a 4” x 5” advertisement in our Program Booklet. For more information contact Jayne at (860) 276-8433.
Additional information and statistics about The Recovery Wing’s activities may be found on our website www.therecoverywing.org. Please take the time to visit the website for wonderful photos and videos of past and current birds in our care that has recently been updated. These are some of the very birds you took the time to rescue!
I hope to see you there!
