Unexpectedly exciting morning in Colchester backyard yesterday. Thought at
first we were seeing a drab fall goldfinch, but the rapid flitting through
the branches, thankfully, prompted the grabbing of binoculars. Over about
a 15 minute timespan saw 1 Tennessee Warbler, 2 Chestnut-sided Warbler,
and male/female American Redstart. We’ve been inundated with Grackles,
along with the usual crew of Black-capped Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse,
Carolina Wren, Northern Cardinal, many Downy Woodpecker, and Red-bellied
WP. Pileated Woodpecker and Barred Owl occasionally calling from the
woods. A few female RT Hummingbirds remain, too.
