Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsIs waiting until the middle of September waiting too long to move our boat

No, not too late. We came thru Chicago in mid Sept back in 2006, attended
the AGLCA Rendezvous in Alabama in October, cruised over 1000 miles on the
Tennessee, Little Tennessee in November, then spent Christmas in Mobile, and
New Years in Pensacola. I did have a diesel furnace on board for the cold
nights/mornings, but all in all a great time to cruise.

Ron,
In my opinion it is a perfect time. The Tennessee and Tenn-Tom are beautiful
in the fall. My wife and I live in Cincinnati and prior to moving our boat
to the Chesapeake, made the run from Cincinnati to Mobile Bay usually in
October, but sometimes as late as November.

My insurance requires that I stay north of the latitude of Savanna until Dec 1. Jon.

Even if you are doing the inland waterways? It seems like that restriction
is for hurricane fears of the eastern seaboard, and would have nothing to do
with Tenn-Tom.

Our insurance is the same-north of lat. 32 between November 1 and June 1. That
equates to Demopolis, AL on the river system.
