10/9, Stratford Point - Like a number of other reported sites this morning, the cool temperature, clear sky, and light NW wind resulted in lots of migrant birds here today. I tallied 56 species, with these highlights: 17 Brant (On Housatonic River, my first of season), 1 Great Cormorant (immature with DC’s on rocks below lighthouse), Winter Wren (my first of fall), lots of sparrows (9 species including 24 White-crowned in numerous small flocks) and Yellow-rumpled Warblers (55+), and a minimum of 160 migrating Pine Siskins (flocks numbering 10-80).
