Joe,
Thanks for the clrification.
I am the perpetual laptop upgrader.
I just moved from a Gateway 9100 to a Gateway 9300.
It has a 15" screen and exceeding crisp display.
I do believe with a shield it will perform admirably on my flybridge.
That is what I will find out.
Richard

I was just out at the Game Developer's Conference in San Jose, and saw a
great laptop video card, the Nvidia GeForce2Go:

http://www.geforce.com/products/geforce2go.nsf/

This card has the best quality of graphics on a mobile platform that I've
ever seen. Full support for DVD and 3D games, and a very smooth look. It's
the first laptop that looks as good as a regular video card. They have what
they call Digital Vibrance Control, which "... can actually compensate for
sub-optimal lighting, reducing the chance of serious physical injury from
eyestrain and by increasing productivity." (from the website). There's a
port in the back to hook up your TV set, so that you could watch DVDs
without having to huddle around the laptop. It's even set up as an HDTV
receiver/player.

Unfortunately, most video cards in laptops can't be upgraded, and the
GeForce2Go won't be sold over-the-counter, only as OEM. It's currently
shipping. If you're planning on a new laptop, be sure to check out machines
that carry this card. So far, Toshiba has jumped on board (sorry!), but
there will surely be others soon. Here's the 850 mHz, $2750 Toshiba
2805-s402: (as an example)

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/pd/pd_pt_prod.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0
027882443.0985803888@@@@&BV_EngineID=falkhjkmllibfdkchmcfgkcgi.0&comm=SB&pli
n=Portables&pfam=Satellite&aoid=1073768052&poid=1073838110&action=none

Pretty hellish URL, but it's in the Small Business category, Satellite, #5,
on the Toshiba website.

As usual, no affiliations with either company. Heck, I wonder sometimes if
I'm even affiliated with myself!
