I have had both carpet (on First Forty) and holly/teak flooring and prefer the latter. Yes, the teak can be slippery but that is so easy to overcome with orientals with non-skid pads or other area rugs. I replaced all the wall-to-wall on First forty with a dark navy with red flecks and it looked fabulous. The original green did not match anything on board, so this was an extravagance to change and of course then I sold the boat! Navy does show any light colored lint but not stains, and I used heavy duty stuff. The galley was teak, would not want carpet in there!

In Cinderella, I have all holly-teak so I use a nautical runner down the center aisle with non-skid underneath. It is wool and looks great but it sheds so I get fuzz! I would recommend the teak-holly but be sure the carpeting you use on top will not 'fuzz'. Use throw rugs with non-skid at the bottom of any stairs! My dog panics if he has to go down stairs that have no carpeting at the bottom and for good reason!
