My wife & I went from power boat to sail boat and back to power boat.  The
first was a Chris Craft Twin Engine 31' The Sailboat Was Island Packet 40'.  We
looked at a lot of used and new production line boats and decided to have a
trawler built. We settled on a Pat Bray design to be built in Canada. 53'
length  and 17' width , Full displacement glass hull, Single engine 330 hp John
Deere.  20kw Northern lights gen set. All hydraulic bow thruster, stern
thruster, active  Key power stabilizers. Three staerooms, two heads, one with jacuzzi
tub. Galley  and saloon up with full size home style appliances. full size
freezer, washer  & dryer. Garbage compactor. dishwasher. We wanted all the comforts
of home.  We carry almost 1600 gals of fuel. Burn about 5.5 gals per. hr. at
1800 rpm.  which pushes us at about 9 knots. We also have a hydraulic come
home drive that  runs from the gen set attached to main shaft. We spent a couple
of years in the  pnw, A couple years in S.F. Bay where we live and are now on
our second year in  Mexico. We love our boat and are very comfortable aboard.
We won,t discuss the  cost and the nightmares here of dealing with builders in
Canada.
