The Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act is the only US Federal grants program specifically dedicated to the conservation of our migrant birds that is available throughout the Americas. U.S. Senators Benjamin Cardin (D-MD) and Mike Crappo (R-ID) have introduced S. 690 which reauthorizes this important bill. The bill proposes an increase in funding from $6 million to $20 million per year by 2015. This would result in many bird conservation projects that cannot currently be funded. The NMBCA has been extremely successful, having supported 260 projects in 48 states and territories since 2002. Advances in conservation for many declining species, including Cerulean Warbler, owe much to the NMBCA. The American Bird Conservancy has set up a website that makes it simple for CT birders and conservationists to show support for this important bill: http://org2.democracyinaction.org/o/5400/t/2205/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=826
