Greetings again,

Bruce Di Labio and I went out this morning birding Gull Island, the
lighthouse area and Calf Pasture.  The best bird was a juv. Long-billed
Dowitcher.  It was initially sitting on Sebastopol Pt., then flew to the
shoals off from Owen Pt., then finally flew over Owen Pt. heading toward
the marsh. Other notables included a Pine Siskin on Gull Is., an
unbanded imm. Peregrine eating a gull about 100m N. of Owen Pt. -
hopefully it will not die from Botulism as a result.  There are still
new birds dying daily and the carcasses are not being collected so
scavengers and predators remain at risk.  There was one Great Egret
feeding off the natural beach.  We hit a good flock of passerines at the
lighthouse which included lots of Wc and Wt Sparrows, 6 Parula, 2 EW
Pewee (one singing), B-h, R-e and Warbling Vireos, Brown Creeper and
both kinglets, especially Golden-crowned.  At Calf Pasture there were 2
O-c Warblers in brush near the top of the parking area.

Cheers,

Doug McRae

Directions:  To reach Presqu'ile, exit Hwy 401 at Brighton and follow
the road south through town.  Watch for the Provincial Park signs.
