I am looking for suggestions on a good quality paint coating, for roll and
tip. I will be re-coating the hull and top side of the cabin area of my
Hatteras. Any info or recommendations will be appreciated.

Thanks
Ron

Jim's right about the two-parts like Awlgrip or Interlux.  The finished
paint is bullet-proof and lasts a long time.  The down side, beyond the
mixing issue, is that they are very thin coatings and as such, they will
show EVERY imperfection on the painted surface. So surface prep (filling,
fairing, sanding, priming) is critical.  I've done two boat hulls (22' and
27') with Interlux's Interthane Plus (I think it's been replace by another
paint now) and was very happy with the results.

That said, I just did the cabin and flybridge this year with Interlux's
Toplac one-part. It's really easy to work with and does a nice job of
covering.  It's great for rolling and tipping.  I've also used Interlux
Brightside with success, too.  I think the Toplac might have been a bit
easier to work with.

The process is really easy...it's a two-person job. The challenge is to keep
the wet edge going. And the even bigger challenge is to resist the urge to
go back and correct little holidays or missed area's while the paint's wet.
I promise you...you'll only make it worse if you do!  Make sure you have
good, direct lighting so you can see what you're laying down.  I put two or
three sets of lights on stands lighting the paint surface (fore, aft and in
the middle.) so you can site up and down the surface and locate missed areas
or sags.

Good luck!

I recently used Perfection, a 2 part epoxy that was designed for layman use.
I don't know about how it will last, but it was very easy to use and
everyone is suppressed to learn that it was not sprayed on.  I used a flag
blue finish, but the instructions say that white can be rolled and not even
tipped.
