Let's talk again after you get your boat and use it for a year or two.

It's not the cost.  You state "There are numerous commercial treating
systems if you don't want to pump out and they would add what 0.001 percent
to the cost of your boat???".  I don't know of numerous but I guess anything
over one could be considered as numerous.  The one that does come to mind
(LectraSan) is in fact not acceptable in any of these places even though it
has been tested and approved by the USCG.  That being said when you get your
boat, and it doesn't matter how big or how much you spend, waste storage
becomes a problem. So what do you suggest one does with it?  No wait please
refer to the first sentence.

As for  "Grow up and follow the rules before the rules become draconian.". I
think in some cases we are already there.  BTW "draconian"  as you well know
comes from the reference to an Athenian named Draco. Here is a quote from
the American Heritage Dictionary. "Dra7co 1      (dra'ko)  Pronunciation
Key
Athenian politician who codified the laws of Athens (c. 621). Lauded for its
impartiality, his code was unpopular for its severity.' . Please notice the
word " impartiality". So you see we are past this already because as many
have already pointed out, this "Disconnect the section of hose" rule is
aimed at one group but not the real culprits.

One more thing.  I want to make it perfectly clear that I am not for dumping
in a "no discharge zone".  Even though I don't always agree with the zoning.
I'm just making the case that I have to go through some really stupid steps
to ensure that I won't dump and I do have the skills to by pass the steps if
I really wanted to.

Well said Vinny.

Isnt it ironic that we file our income taxes, which carries penalties as
high as imprisonment for improper processing (or falsification) on our part,
with the HONOR system. That is, we send it in, we get our rebate, and case
closed (unless you happen to get an audit.) Yet with our holding tanks, in
Vermont we have DISASSEMBLE them. What a STUPID law !!!!!!!!!!

Which is the more grievous crime: stealing money from the government or
dumping waste overboard?

I think the approach to law and its enforcement in Florida makes more
sense.....If the marine police board your boat, they test the waste system
with die markers and determine if your waste system is in position to pump
overboard. If so, you get a noticeable fine. There is no mechanical
disassembly of the waste system required !

Absolutely Ralph.
Let us avoid spending any MONEY in Vt. That should not be too difficult.
I will remember this yr after next when I am in that area.

When the merchants and marinas realize that transients are avoiding them
then pressure will be placed on the legislature.

Still no word on reasonably priced pump outs( compared to NY) much less free
ones!!!!!!

Did ANYONE see any signs for any free pumpouts in Vermont? Even if you
bought fuel? So far no one on this list has cited any such locations.

Somewhere, quite awhile back, I read that pumpout
facilities that had been subsidized by US government
were not allowed to charge more than $5.

Is my rememberer faulty again and/or still?
