Snip
Hey Eric..
Is this an issue with nearsightedness?
End snip
NO. I have central vision blindness in both eyes.
Worse in the right eye than the left eye. Whatever
I point my eyes at disappears. I have to use my
lousy peripheral vision for all reading walking
around and riding my bicycle. And ,of course, this
typing thing which I am so poor at doing. Thank
goodness for spell checking!
For reading the computer monitor I have some
glasses that let me focus at about 3 inches. For
typing I bought large print key stickers so the
letters are the full size of the key tops. I also
bought a 20.1 inch LCD monitor, set the font to
"Largest" the resolution to 800 X 600 and thus can
MOSTLY read what is displayed. Any italics or
fancy fonts and I am screwed.
I HATE websites that must be displayed in a small
font because the web master didn't bother to set
it up to use side to side scrolling, or to even
allow the position of the lines be relative to the
screen resolution, thus forcing every oversize
line to be displayed partially or mostly over the
top of the previous line.
I know it IS possible to set up web pages to
allow for the visually impaired but many are NOT.
I HATE buying from sites where I must reset my
display font to the size 'preferred' by the web
master. Then I get to use my magnifying glass AND
my glasses. It is a major PITA!

Eric,
Most browsers also have a text setting that can further enlarge the text of
a web page even larger than the font setting of your OS (usually in the
"view" or "page" menu) and also have the ability to zoom on the page.
