G'day Y'all -

On this thread of Nobeltec 7.0 and the new Maptech charts......Nobeltec
has announced (see their website) that they will no longer support
Maptech charts as they are changing their format with the introduction
of version 4.0.  Nobeltec does work with all past versions.

For what its worth..... I have been an avid supporter of raster charts
all this time.  However, on our last cruise of 21 months, I have started
using Passport charts more and more, often on a split screen with the
vector charts on one side and the raster charts on the other.  I have
slowly come around to preferring the vector charts on the new PassPort
Deluxe charts - less clutter but the necessary stuff is there.  The
vector charts DO get upgraded more often than the raster charts also.

Nobeltec supports  as many chart formats as any other chart plotter
program.  E think that they have associated themselves with the TRANSAS
people for the database, and I know of no other any better for vector
charts.

No, absolutely no association - only a satisfied customer.  I don't care
for their registration process, however.  On the other hand, I've had no
problem  with using their software on three computers and when I've
changed out a computer or motherboard/hard drive, they have always given
me the "number" without a murmur.
