Well after weeks of reading the posts here, I actually have some first hand
experience on a subject. I am a merchant who accepts credit cards. A couple of
years ago I stopped taking checks from a customer due to NSF. I then
proceeded to manually enter his card into the terminal with his "verbal
permission". A few months later he disputed the charges. The total chargeback
came to over $2500.00. Their reasoning was I did not have possession of the
card, I did not imprint the card, and he did not sign for the transaction. And
I had no recourse. The processing company also considered me a "high risk" and
withheld an additional $2500.00 from my account for 90 days. There must be a
piece of this puzzle missing. The chargeback should have been automatic.
