I am looking at a 1983, 34' Mainship III, and was wondering if anyone has
any info about the boat that would be useful. It has a single 200hp Perkins
and cruises 8 knots at 2gph and 14knots at 6-7gph, which should qualify it
as a trawler. I would be most interested in comments concerning its
seaworthiness. It only has 1100 hours on the engine and seems to be in good
condition, most of its life was in fresh water. The interior is dated and
needs significant upgrading. Any ideas about how to go about this, or who
would be a good source in Florida to contact?

The upgrading is easy. A friend of mine went through this on the same boat.
We made a teak park bench that went completely athwartships on the fly
bridge for extra and more comfortable seating, and inside it was just new
carpets from a local remnant store for $150 installed. Ready made drapes
from JC Penny and about a days work on the wood trim and repainting the
black trim in between the side windows on the outside.
We also did some improvements in side, easier discussed by phone.
