Peter:
Your Espar was completely rebuilt by Ocean Options at a cost of over $1400
the end of the summer before you bought the boat.  The receipt for the
overhaul should be on the boat somewhere.  I would contact them if you are
having problems.

Matt, I do notice some minor odor, but am not bothered by it.  My D7L is
mounted in the engine room, is exhausted through the stern and gets fresh
air from the salon.  On the other hand, maybe that is because my Espar
spends more time out of commission than it does working (not grinning).

With all the talk about Espar diesel heaters, I'm surprised no one has
commented on the diesel smell associated with them.  Our current boat is our
second one equipped with an Espar heater (by previous owners), and both give
off the same hint of diesel smell when they're operating.

This was our primary motivation for ensuring we have a carbon monoxide alarm
on our boat.

Does this smell with Espars bother anyone else?

Matt,

Haven't noticed any odors at all.  Loose connections perhaps?
