I just want to provide a very brief update on Lighthouse Point Park.  All of September's Lighthouse data has been logged into HawkCount:

http://hawkcount.org/

Slightly lower than normal coverage hours and 3-year low totals (4,402 hawks) probably reflect all that rotten weather (ie, muggy, foggy, sunny, warm, hurricane, beach, weather) we had during September.  American Kestrel September numbers (352) have tanked when compared to previous September totals.

But we are far from over; we haven't even hit peak hawkwatch time yet!  Just as inland New England watches are starting to slow down, coastal Lighthouse is tallying impressive daily totals.  Here are the totals for this month (again, see details at HawkCount):  10/1 (98), 10/2 (240), 10/3 (113), 10/4 (321), 10/5 (206), 10/6 (825), 10/7 (580).

Historical peak days (around Columbus Day) have yet to come.  We are already seeing visiting hawkwatchers from New England sites to the north.  Come on down and join them.  We're here till December.
