Yesterday 6/10 an ebird list was submitted from Grace Richardson Conservation Area in Fairfield that included two photos of a falcon identified as an EURASIAN HOBBY. More details have been requested of the observer. We are trying to corroborate the sighting.

That is a species native to Europe and Asia, but that has also occurred rarely in N America including Massachusetts and Newfoundland. There are no previous CT records. They like to hunt small birds including swallows and large insects, over open fields, marshes, ponds, etc. Frank Gallo has been out searching the area for it for several hours, unsuccessfully. I just arrived too to search. If you live in the area it might be good to join the search.
