DGPS, (Differential GPS) will get you within 3-10 feet. I have mine so that
it many times puts me right on. DGPS used to be an expensive option, unless
you used it often and your life depended on it. Now, it is becoming so
cheap, that it is silly not to get it. Remember, LORAN's days are numbered
and even GPS has some political issues brewing, so do a little research
before spending a bunch of time and cash.
I used to own a LORAN unit, before I donated it to the local artificial
reef program. I can probally get my hands on a few used units if anyone is
into collecting antiques.
The best backup to any navigation system, ask Christopher Columbus!!!!
