We too averaged about $100 per day on our "little loop" trip last summer. 2
adults, 1 child, 1 diesel engine, 2 months. Not really trying to save money
but not throwing it around either. About an even split of marinas, anchoring
out, lock walls and town docks. Breakfast and lunch on board, dinners out
when possible.

Extrapolating that out for a year gives us an idea of what to plan for a
permanent retirement lifestyle.

I am not real sure where to mount my GPS antennae. Is
it ok on the flybrigde? I wonder as the boat is pretty
rolly and will there be a large possbility of losing
the signal with the anntennae up hihg like that???

I could easily do a rail mount, but also this would be
up high on the flybridge rail.

any advice?

I have three different antennae on my flybridge. One
of them is for VHF and is being used. The other is
from an old Loran, the last from the old cell phone.
Can I use these other antennae for VHF? Or does it
just depend on the models of the antennae what it can
be used for?

One of them is a 4800 shakespeare. the other dont
know, but is for loran.

??

You CAN NOT use a cellular phone or LORAN antenna for VHF. The only thing
that works is an antenna cut for the VHF frequencies.
