NCL Board Members,

I have not had time to summarize this for members and haven’t seen any activity on our list about it, but as some of you know, both the Senate and the House Labor-HHS-Ed Appropriations Committees released their FY 2016 bills, and neither are good for adult ed.

The House freezes state grants and cuts National Leadership by about $3.5 million, while Senate actually cuts the states grants by $29 million and National Leadership by $6 million.

I have been to busy to write or suggest to the membership that someone write a letter to the House Appropriations Committee on behalf of NCL, and it’s too late to do that now (the House Appropriations Committee approved its bill on a party line vote today).

BUT, not too late to get one up to the Senate Appropriations Committee, which will be voting on the bill tmw.

If the board is OK with the attached draft, I will send it up tmw. Let me know ASAP, as the hearing is at 10am.

Jeff

P.S. I know I owe several of you an email or two. Really sorry. Will try to catch up in the morning. I’m on a retreat somewhere in the woods of Tennessee for the NAEPDC’s Leadership Excellence Academy, but should have some time early.
