robert zanuzzi posted..."Do you recall how badly Lake Erie was infected with
algae due to the phosphates that were in various detergents. I am not
totally positive but I think you can still get those soaps today. The
phosphate was responsible for the fish die off in that lake. Yes, it is lots
cleaner now, but mankind can not take responsibility for that. It was the
zebra mussel, and alien limpet, that was brought here in a ballast tank and
has reproduced in vast numbers. Now, we are experiencing a die off of the
mussel. because it has eaten itself out of house and home, so to speak. I
could go on and on but I will stop here as I am sure some of the members are
getting bored with this."
robert, you have proven that you shoot from the lip. Lake Erie cleared up in
the late 70's after the EPA banned ALL phosphates. The zebra mussel didn't
show up till the early 90's in any quantity.
For years and years complaints rolled in about high coliform counts in Lake
St Clair. Virtually all sewage dumping was stopped but the high counts
remained. It was goose droppings. So blame the high pollution on mother
nature who is cr@pping in your water supply.
Virtually ALL boats on the great lakes have no grey water tank and so dump
all their grey water stuff into the great lakes. Canada tried to mandate
grey water tanks in the 80's but dropped that effort. Go complain to your
government for refusing to stop grey water dumping. So in answer to your
question, almost everybody does it.
