It's all true for Moby Dick. He's a killer. He's a fury. He's an angel of hell. Why if the white whale could talk he'd talk like Ahab."* Nantucket. 1853. Center of a whaling industry that transformed blubber into the oil and candles that lit the world. It is here that a schoolmaster called Ishmael arrives to ship on a whale-boat. He sails under Ahab, Captain of the Pequod - a man bent on destroying the white whale that cost him his leg. Certain the destruction of his nemesis will quench his thirst; Ahab's single-minded pursuit of the whale consumes Ishmael, the crew and the Pequod itself. Assemblage Theater presents Herman Melville’s classic tale of man's obsessive battle against nature, *Moby Dick - The Tale Retold**,* adapted for the stage by Ken Conner’s, and directed by David Domkoski, with production design by Erin Chanfrau, choreography by Katie Lappier and music by Stanley William. Performances will take place at Tacoma Youth Theater space, 924 Broadway, opposite the Pantages Theater. *Moby Dick - The Tale Retold* opens Friday evening, September 9 and runs through Saturday, September 24, with Friday and Saturday performances at 7:30 p.m., a Sunday matinee performance on September 18 at 2 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening performance on September 22. Tickets will be available at the door or in advance at www.BrownPaperTickets.com. Tickets are $15.00 (Adults). $10.00 (Seniors 65+/Students/Military). A special $5.00 preview performance is scheduled at 8 PM, on Thursday, September 8, 2016. Tickets for that performance will be available only at the door the evening of the performance.
