Hi all,

If you are attending the annual conference in La Quinta, here is a list of things you might be interested in:

  • Wednesday, September 27:
    *  ILGL - 8:00am to 5:00pm.  This portion of the conference is geared towards attorneys new(ish) to municipal law.  I've attended ILGL several times and have found great value in attending.  This year, you have some amazing presenters and topics.  You will not be disappointed.  Free (but if you want lunch included, it will cost $75).
    *  First Time Attendee Reception - 5:00pm to 6:00pm.  If this is your first time attending an IMLA conference, drinks are on IMLA.  This is an opportunity to meet with the IMLA Board of Directors, IMLA staff, and other first-time attendees.  It's an excellent opportunity to start networking (and find a buddy to hang out with for the rest of the conference).  Free.
  • Thursday, September 28:
    *  Welcome Reception - 5:15pm to 6:45pm.  This is similar to the First Time Attendee Reception but for all IMLA attendees.  Another good opportunity to meet people.  Free.
  • Friday, September 29:
    *  WONK Breakfast - 7:30am to 8:30am.  I will be hosting a New Lawyer's breakfast table.  There is no agenda, just another opportunity to meet people in similar situations.  If you have registered and want to add the breakfast (which costs $50), please email trina@imla.orgmailto:trina@imla.org.
    *  Softball - 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  Sports are a good way to connect with other people.  In fact, when I went to my first IMLA conference in 2017, I met a cool guy named Jeff Dana.  Since then, Jeff and I have become good friends and we always meet up at the IMLA conference to hang out.  For this event, it is sponsored by the national Firm Best Best & Krieger, so everything is free.  Just bring a mitt if you have one (no worries if you don't) and appropriate clothes and shoes.  I look forward to this event each year.  Email cstorer@imla.orgmailto:cstorer@imla.org to sign up!
  • Saturday, September 30:
    *  New Lawyer Dine-Around - 5:00pm to 6:00pm  For the past couple of years, the New Lawyer members have had an informal "dine-around" at a local restaurant.  This year we will be eating at The Grill on Main, which is about a mile away from the conference/hotel.  If you want to hang out with other members who are newer to municipal law, this is a fun opportunity to do so.  I only have 10 total spots open so email cstorer@imla.orgmailto:cstorer@imla.org to catch a spot.  (You will need to pay for the food that you order.)
    *  Tennis - 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  From my understanding, we will have tennis professionals teach us some skills, and then we get to play.  I've only played tennis a handful of times, but this sounds fun!  It costs $40 per person, but the cost includes a racquet and balls.  Just bring a good pair of shoes and appropriate clothes.  Email cstorer@imla.orgmailto:cstorer@imla.org to sign up!

If any of you want to walk in the morning, please email me and I will get a group message started.  Safety in numbers people.  If you have any other suggestions or input, please email me directly.

Thanks,
