I just spotted a Swallow-tailed Kite flying over sturgeon woods campground, seen from Pelee Wings Store between Leamington and Point Pelee. It is about 500m inland from the lake and heading toward the park now. No doubt the same bird seen by a couple observers yesterday in PPNP. This is on Point Pelee Drive in Essex County.

Side note: we will be hosting a few guided morning birding experiences through Pelee Wings at the end of this month if anyone is interested!

My co-worker Eric Briggs just told me he has seen the Swallow-tailed Kite several times this afternoon flying over the trees and field adjacent to Point Pelee Drive, between Pelee Wings Nature Store and the entrance to Point Pelee National Park (Southeast of Leamington). Like the other day it has been flying low, catching dragonflies/grasshoppers and eating them on the wing. Not surprisingly it was not seen yesterday in the strong wind. Good birding, and good luck to those who did not get to see it earlier this week!

PS: Join me on a guided birding experience with a meal along the lake through Pelee Wings this fall! Call the shop at 519-326-5193 or contact me if interested!
