I need to buy some miscellaneous fittings and short lengths of 1/2 inch PEX hose of the coil variety. I have looked at all sorts of places on the web and have not found a place that carries what I am looking for, especially in the hose category. We always have a lot of short pieces of tubing around our shop and if I were approached about it in the right way, I'd be happy to share. Don't amble into the shop just as the guy's heading home for supper Don't be waiting in the parking lot before he opens for the day Don't have the first contact with your local plumber be the one you ask for a favor. I might suggest to: Ask him about it when he's cleaining up from installing your new water heater in your home (or similar scenario) Find him at the local lunch counter & offer to buy if you can bend his ear for a couple of minutes, and offer to pay his time to get your stuff together. Find a plumbing contractor who owns a boat (preferably a power boat. That should be easy, since most of the plumber's I know wouldn't be caught dead in one of those floppy hats with grommets.) I'm happy to be able to report that both Winnie the Pooh and the House at Pooh Corner survived hurricane Wilma unscathed. Not all the residents of Turkey Creek at Ortona were as fortunate. One house on the next street lost the entire roof. Several mobile homes were badly damaged, and many trees are down. As far as I can tell, no boats were damaged here. We had sustained winds of 90 mph, and gusts to 110, according to the Labelle Fire Department. There's no power here, and none expected for several weeks. We're back to living on the boat, where power, hot water, and propane cooking are available.
