the marsh, to the left of the airport entrance.
Old dumpsite in front of Short Beach -- 1 Light-morph Rough-legged
Hawk. Sitting in 2 different trees and soaring over the dump area 3
different times. Accessed from Rt 113 (Main St) but also seen by
others from the east end of the Short Beach parking lot.
Knapps Landing -- 2 Snowy Owls seen in marsh across the river in
Milford. One was on the opposite bank of the river, directly across
from the restaurant, the other on the male Osprey's perch by the
Coastal Center.
Milford, Coastal Center at Milford Point -- Total of 4 Snowy Owls seen
from the center, all but the one on the perch by the Osprey nest
distant and only visible from the tower. The one on the beach across
from Knapp's Landing was NOT visible.
West Haven, East Brown St -- 3 Redhead amongst the thousand or more
waterfowl gathered there.

(FC), 1st and 2ndcycle. 2 new adults one small with pale gray
primaries and short bill and another flyover at the boat ramp flying
west and a new 1st cycle.

flying over I-95.

01/13/13 - West Haven, Boat Launch -- The previously reported Redheads
were still at the boat launch, four drakes and two females. At noon,
they were easily viewed with binoculars, although a scope would help
if they move around.

01/13/13 - Old Saybrook -- BONAPARTE'S GULL along the NE edge of South
Cove Causeway at 2 PM, RED-NECKED GREBE continues at the point at 8
AM, and then swam in front of marina out of sight. Back at about 1:00
PM.

Waterford, Harkness Park -- COMMON EIDER (16) and WHITE-WINGED SCOTER.
Preston, Avery Pond -- 3:35 PM; GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE in with at
least 1500 Canada Geese and other assorted waterfowl including LESSER
SCAUP (2). Geese were constantly coming and going and there certainly
were birds that I missed. The flock could use some more study. (Avery
Pond is a quiet under birded area, It's easy to get to and has plenty
of parking).

01/12/13 - Stratford -- 1 RED-NECKED GREBE, 1 drake EURASIAN WIGEON
seen at Stratford Point. Also, one odd looking drake American Wigeon
with a bright green and cream colored head (hybrid?) seen in the same
flock as the Eurasian Wigeon. Three SNOWY OWLS seen at one time in the
Great Meadow Marsh in Stratford. The large second cycle ICELAND GULL
continues at Long Beach. Another SNOWY OWL was seen later at the
airport. A second Eurasian Wigeon was seen in the inlet at Short
Beach.
Milford, Audubon Coastal Center at Milford Point -- 1 to 2 Snowy Owls
seen in the marsh.

01/12/13 - Stratford, Birds Eye boat ramp -- 2:00 PM; 3 Snowy Owls in
the marsh across the river, in between the boat ramp and the Milford
coastal Audubon center.
Long Beach -- 4:00 PM; 2 Snowy Owls in the marsh behind Long Beach.
While leaving long beach we observed another owl flying from tree to
tree just north of the airport entrance.
Milford, Audubon Coastal Center at Milford Point -- 4:30 PM; from the
observation tower, a total count of 5 SNOWY OWLS!
