Good morning,
I am seeking support in working on our Spanish 3 curriculum and we are looking for any suggestions and or ideas to implement in our curriculum. We are currently using Buen Viaje Level 3, but we don't feel that is adequate for our English Speakers. Please share anything you can with us.
Thanks,

Good afternoon educators,
Is there anyone that teaches specifically to native speakers? I would
like to know about your curriculum.
Thank you,
Marcy Nava
Plainview HS
I am attaching some of our curriculum and syllabuses that we have used.
Maybe these will give you an idea. We have not used that textbook in
years, and actually do not have a textbook for Spanish 3 Pre-AP. The
Spanish 3 regulars (academic) also does not use a textbook. We've been
making our own curriculum for years now. All I ask is that you give us
credit when you do use some of our ideas. We do the same for each other.
Thanks. I hope this helps.

We use the series, Descubre for our Spanish program for both Honors and "Regular" classes. We begin with Descubre 1 for high school and move throughout the series to Descubre 3 for level III. The majority of those students are in 10th grade, however, we do a have a number of freshman who are accelerated in their linguistic abilities. We add "readers" as well film study to enhance the students' learning in their reading comprehension, critical analysis both in print and film, essay writing and cultural enrichment. For Middle School, we are changing things up a big and starting Descubre 1A for 7th grade and Descubre 1B for 8th grade. The students begin Descubre 2 for level II in high school.
I hope this helps!

We use a more project based curriculum. We have one project per 6 weeks. Some are group and some individual. Grammar wise we teach/review Imperfect vs Preterite, Conditional, Future, Commands, Subjunctive, and Perfect Tenses. At least those are the big ones. We review things like Ser vs Estar, Gustar, etc.
We choose vocab sets that go w/ that grammar topic as well; such as teaching disasters while reviewing Imp/Pret. We have students film a news program including weather and weather news. Our other big project is a cooking show that uses the food vocab and commands. We do not follow the textbook really although we have Realidades-Prentice Hall. We just build our own units w/ the hope of making them speak more. (This is for regular SP III, not our AP program.)
Hope that helps!

We are trying to revamp our native speakers program, does anyone have test or list of requirements for native speakers? That are either given at the middle school level or coming into the high school wanting to enroll in native speakers. Any help is greatly appreciated!
