OpenSCAD on Big Sur

I’m running Big Sur MacOS 11.5.2.  I cannot open OpenSCAD. My security preferences are set to “Allow apps downloaded from Anywhere”.  When I open OpenSCAD by any of:

Double-clicking in finder
Ctrl-click in finder
Ctrl-right-click in finder
Crtl-click and show package contents and then ctrl-click on the Mac stub inside

I get told the app is unsigned and I can cancel or move the app to the trash.  Then when I go to the System Preferences, there’s the usual “ ‘OpenSCAD’ was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer.” With an Open Anyway button.  Usually, clicking that button lets me open apps, but with OpenSCAD, clicking the Open Anyway button sends me back to the choice to cancel or move to trash.

I see that other people have gotten running on Big Sur even on M1 chips, but I’ve done all the usual things.  What have you all who have it running done differently than what I’ve listed above?

Thanks,
Lenore

I just can confirm that on my M1 OpenSCAD (2021.01 and also 2019.05) worked
in macOS 11.5, 11.5.1 and now in 11.5.2.
I don't have an idea what the problem could be. You certainly tried Un- and
reinstalling?
