Definition of GM or the Metacentric Height

In trying to understand a boat's stability, I've run across both an "A/B"
ratio which is pretty straight forward but have also encountered the "GM" or
metacentric height value.  I can't find anywhere whether a high or low value
is better. For example Selene advertizes their 54 with a GM of 4' 10 1/2"
under full load and Ocean Alexander advertizes their 54 at 4'6" dry and 3'
8" under full load.    Which is better?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
