Scott suggests: broker...HAVE to put a bright side to the story
otherwise they will scare any buyers away. Here are the realities as I
know them: a. Any broker can tell you the number of boats sold in a
year. If they have access to wwwyachtworld.com they get access to www.soldboats.com
(or something like that). They use that system to see the difference
between asking and accepted prices so they can advise their sellers
where previous boats are selling.
(1) Trawler buyers are usually perceptive enough to not be suckered by
bs or spin (2) while I don't take your response personally, an opinion
was asked, and an opinion given based on firsthand knowledge of being
on the front line with supporting information given (I didn't include
the non-trawlers I have sold in the last 7 weeks) (3) I reiterate that
in my opinion websites are not the appropriate means for conclusions.
The sold prices of boats are entered by brokers with no verification
and some boats (like the 2008 trawler I closed on recently) are
removed rather than being listed as sold. Also not all dealers and
brokers subscribe to YW.
