I prefer the good old phone call sbout a good bird in real time while it is still present.

Interesting....brings up a good point- ebird or not to ebird! Sure diffuses those exciting CTBIrds alerts when someone finds a bird in "real time" rather than seeing an obscure report days later when the bird has probably left the area.

I still like and prefer CTBIrds alerts!

I was searching ebird for some birds I still need photos of and noticed a Northern Shrike was reported from Haddam Meadows State Park.  Photos were included:

I don't recall seeing any word of it come across on CTBirds...and my brain is pretty keyed in on the word shrike as emails come in at the moment :)

Sure that was fine but i liked it better when a dilligent birder would find a phone and call several people about a good bird while it was still there and not after lunch and errands and just before watching the 11 pm news.
