Hello Óvári,
Thunderbird can be installed in the Librem 5, it is available in several
distribution repositories for it.
And if the Librem 5 is in Docked mode: connected via a USB-C to a
external display and a keyboard it can work perfectly. And touch support
works.
The issue is when it is not in docked mode, just the phone it self,
several of the Thunderbird windows are not adaptive and do not fit
properly on a 5 inch screen.
As can be seen in the attached picture of Thunderbird on a Librem 5 in
landscape mode.
We do have developer documentation for those interested in making their
applications adaptive for mobile and have several mailing lists and
matrix chat rooms to help with any questions.
Kind regards,
João Azevedo

Hi Librem 5 Team,
Are you able to please test if the Thunderbird ARM 64-bit version runs
on Librem 5?
If it works, can you please email:

tb-planning@mozilla.org, Maildev maildev@lists.thunderbird.net
so that the Librem 5 can be added to the list of "Known to run on:"
Thank you
Óvári

Withiin the limitations of the smaller screen and how that affects the
usabilty of the UI yes it should work. I can't say for sure since I
don't have a Librem 5 myself yet.
Perhaps a separate page to list some developer/hardware/os usability
data is needed?

Thank you Rob!
Will this mean that Thunderbird will also run on the "Librem 5" [1]?
Should the Thunderbird:AArch64 website [2] add - Librem 5
under
"Known to run on:"?
Thank you

Everyone is on the ARM/Aarch64 bandwagon, so why shouldn’t
Thunderbird be as well?
We now have linux-aarch64 builds (opt only, no shippable) in
comm-central, complete with OpenPGP support. This is still a
“desktop” build using X11/Wayland libraries, so it’s suitable for a
Raspberry Pi 4 with a 64-bit OS. It is also known to run on the
Pinephone with Manjaro ARM (though you will want an external display).
Apple Silicon support should be landing in the 87 dev cycle, with
Windows 10 ARM to follow.
I created a wiki page because, why not? Thunderbird::AArch64
