If you use the fenders made for fender boards they pretty much attach to the board and if you use fenders that have an eye at each end, tie the line in one end (bottom) and thread it through the other (top) and run the board between the line and fender. You could tie the line in the top eye, but I've never had any trouble with them when not doing that.
