Hello All,
Does anybody have any recorded data on the normal exhaust elbow temperature for a 120 hp Lehman engine? Also, is the temperature generally the same on the top and the bottom of the elbow? I have been unable to obtain the temperature readings myself due to the lack of an available pilot while I take the readings, and was wondering what others have found.
Thanks,
Andy

I know that opposite the raw water input it is less than 160F because I had
a bimetallic temperature switch there on both my 120 Lehmans which were
connected to a high temperature alarm.
Here are the exhaust elbow temperatures I recorded in 2007 for each exhaust
port as well as the exhaust elbows while running the engines at 1700 RPM
with seawater injection temperature of 76F:
Port Engine Stbd Engine
Exhaust elbow top/bottom 116/264 Exhaust elbow top/bottom
122/304
Exhaust mainfold top fwd 155 Exhaust mainfold top fwd
135
Exhaust manifold top mid 141 Exhaust manifold top mid
130
Exhaust mainfold top aft 143 Exhaust mainfold top aft
132
Exhaust stack 1 309 Exhaust stack 1 317
Exhaust stack 2 258 Exhaust stack 2 307
Exhaust stack 3 286 Exhaust stack 3 325
Exhaust stack 4 184 Exhaust stack 4 205
Exhaust stack 5 290 Exhaust stack 5 276
Exhaust stack 6 386 Exhaust stack 6 415
I have other readings if you are interested
And just think; I never thought anybody would ever need this stuff,
especially after I sold the boat. Old data never dies, it just sits on
computers all over the world. :)
