From Mardi & Towny Dickinson:
8/26 - East Norwalk, 14 Acre Pond, 11 Allen Road -- 6AM, 6:45-7:16PM.
For the last couple of days we have watched morning and night flights
of the Juvenile WHITE IBIS seen well behind the Norwalk senior
center., Until it flew back towards Woods Pond so we thought. Upon
returning back to the car., We then saw the White Ibis circle around
and land in a private smaller pond (does not appear on google map)
near-by. For several minutes, we watched the Ibis feed and then it
flew into the trees next to the little pond to settle down for the
night so it seemed. We waited to see and sure enough it settled down.
We believe this maybe the nightly safe haven the White Ibis has
choosen to roost for the last several days. Alas, we have found the
missing piece of the puzzle. We wished the Ibis a good evening and
went on our merry way.
Upon further talks with several neighbors I spoke with, they said oh
yes, we have been watching this bird for way over a week! It seems to
be quite content. This is clearly the roosting spot as we have now
confirmed within the last 2 days that this is the routine in early AM
and the PM flight. Way Cool!
