Ali,

Thank you for your interest.

This weekend I will be competing, well participating anyway, in the Sonar North American Championship being held at Noroton CT. and will not be at the club.

I suggest that you get in touch with Amy Villalba (cc'd here) , who I think can give you a good idea of sailing at Nyack.

Nyack is an easy shot from upper Manhattan and there are a couple of ways for the CBS Sailing Club to get involved sailing here.

Please keep in touch.

Best,

Jim

Rick,

Greatly appreciated,

Columbia Business School Sailing club is in need for mentors in sailing. These are sharp, committed and focused sailors, and they are looking for crewing for great skippers. We have 8 of them for this Sunday (9/16/2018) and they will be ready at 12 noon sharp.

Guys, please let me know your availability.

Thank you,

Ali,

It was a pleasure chatting with you yesterday, I really appreciate you taking the time on such short notice and being so generous with your open invitation to CBS Sailing Club members.

We’re very excited to get more of our members sailing and would love to maximize the window we have till October 14th. I’m copying in a few board members (Elyssa, Greg, and Kristen) who you might already have met/spoken to.

I’ll pass on the below logistics and instructions we’d discussed to ourmore experienced sailors this weekend (given the weather) and open it up to a wider audience for the following weekends.

Nyack Boat Club Races

  • CBS sailing club to contact Ali/Race committee and notify number of sailors by Friday
  • CBS sailors to arrive at Nyack Boat Club (2207, 59 Gedney St, Nyack, NY 10960) by noon on Sunday
  • Races take place between 1:30 PM and ~5 PM, with a social gathering at the club post-sailing
  • Sailors to wear appropriate attire (white clothing, hat, etc.) and carry personal items (sunscreen, sunglasses, water, waterproof bag) for the duration of races. Is there any other gear you’d suggest?

I had a few follow-up questions from our conversation last night, would you mind shedding some light on them?

Follow-up questions

  • Can CBS sailors get ASA-certified through racing with the Nyack Boat Club?
  • Should we provide any additional information/instructions to CBS sailors?
  • Is there a liability waiver that needs to be completed prior to sailing?

Thanks again for your time and looking forward to getting out to Nyack soon!

Best,

Sriram
