COA Science Conference 2022 - Long Island Sound: Restaurant for Birds
Saturday, November 5, 2022 9:30 AM - 3:00 PM (Online)
You are invited to join us for the Connecticut Ornithological Association's
second annual online bird-oriented Science Conference on Saturday, November
5. This year we are excited to focus on the birds in and around Long Island
Sound throughout the year and the seasonally changing ecosystem that
supports them: The Long Island Sound Restaurant, as we see it.
In addition to featuring several expert presentations on birds, the event
will also offer discussions on marine life and the LIS environment. This
year's format again will be online live via Zoom, bringing together experts
from around the region.
PLEASE REGISTER IN ADVANCE.

COA President Tom Robben has been working hard to bring together a stellar
line-up of leading scholars and other experts for this Conference.
The event begins with a Welcome by Tom, then an overview by John Waldman of
Queens College, followed by a discussion of the Environment and Habitats in
and around Long Island Sound by Mary Beth Decker of Yale University.
Experts from University of Connecticut, University of New Haven, CT DEEP,
Mystic Aquarium, CT Audubon and COA will talk about the food web of LIS,
exploring plankton (George McManus), invertebrates (Gail Hartnett), fish
(David Molnar), marine mammals (Mary Ellen Mateleska) and BIRDS!
A few minutes for Q&A from attendees will follow each 12-25 minute
presentation and a final panel discussion is planned.

interested in birds and the environment, it is offered at no charge. You

November 5, be sure to look for the Zoom recording, which will be available
on the COA website a few days after the event.
