Fairfield Penfield Reef -- BARROW'S GOLDENEYE continues close to point with a few Common Goldeneyes at 9:45 AM. Waterford, Harkness Park -- BLACK SCOTER (4), COMMON EIDER (3), SNOW BUNTING (7). Waterford, Quaker Hill, Smith Cove -- adult GLAUCOUS GULL (photos) on docks looking towards Sub Base. Southport(?), Southport Harbor -- The Barnacle goose was sleeping with the large group of Canada geese. It was close to the edge of the group, the farthest away in Southport Harbor, from the Tide Mill Bridge. From Doug Beach: 01/23/14 - Simsbury -- 1 White-crowned Sparrow along the edge of the cornfield north and east of the Route 185 / Nod Road intersection. Approximately 40 Snow Buntings in the agricultural field north of the Hoskins Road / County Road intersection. An additional 18-20 Snow Buntings at the Simsbury Airport. From Stefan Martin: 01/23/14 - Greenwich -- Drake Redheads swimming together alongside a group of Lesser Scaup. 01/22/14 - Greenwich, Greenwich Point -- a first cycle Iceland gull was present on the Long Island side of eagle pond. The drake Northern Pintail is still hanging around as well. Also 3 flocks of Snow Buntings totalling about 100 birds.
