Anti-Drone Bylaws

Does anyone have a bylaw that in any way regulates drones in excess of what the Transport Canada rules are?

Is this an emerging issue in anyone’s municipality?

Thanks in advance for any information that you may provide.

Hello Brian,

The City of Edmonton's proposed new Public Spaces Bylaw, which will be
before Council Committee next Monday, contains the following provision:

DRONES
55    (1)

A person must not operate a remotely piloted aircraft system, as defined in
the Canadian Aviation Regulations (Canada) from within or over a public
space.

    (2)

Subsection (1) does not apply to the operation of a remotely piloted
aircraft system that weighs less than 250 grams within a designated area.

In Edmonton, we have had a few minor issues involving drones, and was an
issue maybe 5-6 years ago, but recently seems to have settled down. Happy
to discuss further at your convenience if I can help.
