Hi all,
It was one year ago today (10 Nov) that Greg Hanisek discovered a Pacific Loon
on Lake Quassapaug.  To the delight of many, it stayed till Thanksgiving.  Greg,
what's your next find on large inland lakes?  Yellow-billed Loon, Tufted Duck,
Long-billed Murrelet?

Always pays to think big Frank. Let's substitute Clark's Grebe for Tufted
Duck.

And a Yellow-billed Loon in Maine recently, and NY has at least one Ancient Murrelet.    Actually New York has a lot of birds that would be pretty nice to find in CT, like Smew, Western Reef Heron, Pacific Golden-Plover, Common Ringed-Plover, Northern Lapwing, Wood Sandpiper, Fieldfare, Redwing, Baird's Sparrow, Eurasian Curlew and of course their Broad-billed Sandpiper.  I'll put in a special vote for California, Ivory and Black-tailed Gull.  We've had Ross' Gull, but I'll take another, as long as I get to see it!

We are SO overdue for Boreal Chickadee.

I recall North Haven's Ed Shove telling me about coming home from a long November day at the Lighthouse Point Hawk Watch.  It was perhaps 30 years ago. His wife had taken a phone message from a birder who was out in the Quinnipiac Forest, as I recall.  The note simply said, "Boiled Chickadee".

Ed used to say he had seen every bird in the State of CT.  He may not have ID'd them all, but he'd seen 'em.  I believe him!
