This subject was discussed just recently on another list ad nauseum.
There were a number of convinced users, mostly commercial people, but
just as many disbelievers who had never tried the device but found
umpteen pseudo-scientific reasons why it couldn't possibly work.
There was no final conclusion and eventually the discussions just
faded out.
