Observation start time: 07:30:00
Observation end  time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 8.5 hours

Official Counter:        Hugh Kent, Peter Veighey

Observers:        Hugh Kent, Juliette Herdman, Michael Arthurs, Noel Herdman

Visitors:
Big thanks to Peter who took over as Official Counter at mid day, ably
assisted by Noel and Juliette, and Michael who stayed all day. Peter and
Michael went some way to prove evidence of absence, rather than absence of
evidence with no raptors appearing in the afternoon.  It was good to see
Fred and  Connie on the Tower helping to spot birds. It was good to meet
Jim and Linda from Dearborn MI who took a great interest in the Hawk Watch.

Weather:
Overcast with drizzle arriving about midday, clearing late afternoon. The
wind was light, generally from the south.  The temperature hovered around
the mid teens all day. The visibility started good but gradually decreased
throughout the day.

Raptor Observations:
Very quiet day, with a few Turkey Vultures (96) seen and only 10
Sharp-shinned Hawks. Singles of others but as always the excitement of the
day was a fast Peregrine past the Tower.

Non-raptor Observations:
Lots of Ducks again with Ring-necked Ducks (1120) again most numerous.
Sandhill Cranes (3) flew past, they have been seen for the last three days.
Songbird numbers were again low but notables were a late Nashville Warbler
and a female Eastern Towhee. Blue Jays (1520) are still around, with
Starlings (4015) replacing the big Blackbird flocks of previous days. Cedar
Waxwings (215) also appeared again in reasonable numbers. The list is at
https://ebird.org/checklist/S153066883

Predictions:
Tomorrow's forecast is very similar to today, overcast with a moderate wind
from the south. There is a slight chance of rain. Temperatures remain in
the mid teens. Lets hope we see more than today!
