The ad says that it is a 6 cylinder Ford block. I don't know anything about

this engine and would like to know more about it.

You might check with these people. http://www.us1marine.com/index.html  They
sell parts for it.  You could also call American Diesel.  They are the Ford
Lehman experts but they might know something about the Merlin marinzation that
would prove helpful to you.

From the parts website above it appears that the Merlin and the Daytona

diesel engines are very closely related, if not identical.  I considered
installing a 4 cyl Daytona Diesel in Pooh in 1996, and even toured the
factory (on US1 in Ormond Beach, the same place as the US1 Marine parts
place now) at that time.  The factory and the engines were very imressive.
To the best of my recollection, the 90 hp 4-cyl was priced at $9700,
including transmission and instrument panel.  I wound up buying the John
Deere 80 hp for better fuel economy.  A few years later, the Daytona diesels
were no longer available because "we can't get the blocks from New Holland".
That sure made me glad to have bought a Deere.

From the data sheet dated 1995, the Daytona marine diesels were marinized

from Ford Genesis (New Holland) blocks.  The 4 cyl model was available in 4
versions, 90hp NA, 160, 230 and 280hp turbo.  Displacement was 5.0 l and
weighed 950 lbs without tranny.

The DME-6 series displaced 7.5 l, and came in at 140hp NA at 2200 rpm, and
turbo versions at 240,320,410 and 460hp, at 2600-3000 rpm.  Dry weight less
transmission, 1390 lbs.

Let me know if there is any other specific data you can use.
