Since 1982 I have run two diesel Oldsmobiles over three hundred thousand
miles and several Volvo boat diesels as well as detroit diesels and several
gas powered cars and lawnmowers. I have standardized on Shell Rotella -T
for all of my vehicles and diesels. Shell rates it as being approved for
mixed use fleets and for turbo charged operations. Thats what the "T" is
for. It is available in 15w40 as well as staight 30 and 40 weights. My auto
diesels have oil changed on a 3,000 mile cycle and after quite a few
overhauls  on both cars engines the insides have all ways been very clean of
any sludge. Most independent over the  road truckers tend to use Shell
Rotella.

The only exception I have had to make is in my 1995 Ford Taurus which
requires 5w30 or 10w 30 oil. I am using Mobil one synethic because Shell
Rotella is not available in this viscosity. On the Taurus I have also gone
to 5,000 mile oil change intervals with oil analysis every 10,000 miles.
Just turned 80,000 miles and all is well.
