Email received from Larry Briggs, now three times a circumnavigator
under power:
I am waiting for a couple of people to arrive whom I will interview
for crew on this next leg (which started in Ft. Lauderdale
(again !) & came to Ensenada via Trinidad & Panama.
Chartwell's 2nd circumnavigation began on the 11th of December,
2003; we went Westabout again but this time through the Pacific
Trust Territory, Kapingamarangi, Rabaul, the Admiralty Islands, Bali
& much of Indonesia, Singapore & Langkawi. There I spent quite some
time before eventually leaving again for the Maldives, Comores,
Tanzania, & entered South Africa at Richard's Bay; spent 8 months in
SA, going around again to Cape Town (where I owned an apartment );
then up to Walvis Bay, St. Helena, Reciffe & other Brazillian ports
& Trinidad.
I kept Chartwell in Trinidad for a year& one-half because I was able
to buy back my former boat in which we had done a great deal of
cruising years ago.
Chartwell returned to Ft. Lauderdale on the 28th of February 2009
via numerous Caribbean ports including St. Thomas & San Juan,
Puerto Rico.
She was sold within 2 months to an adventursome couple who hope to
cruise extensively.
Yes, I have been to Kota Kinabalu a number of times; I love that
whole area of Saba & Sarawak.
I would probably never had sold Chartwell but "Neptune's Chariot"
became available & I couldn't resist. She needed a lot of work,
having been neglected by (4) previous owners & I took her twice
in Trinidad for extensive repairs & improvements.
