We’re excited to introduce the newest member of CHB, Sophie Engle, our Community Engagement Coordinator!

Born and raised in Tacoma, Sophie brings a deep love for this city and a passion for building meaningful community connections. With years of experience developing strategic partnerships and coordinating major public events at local cultural hubs like the Foss Waterway Seaport and Museum of Glass, Sophie knows what it takes to bring people together around shared values and shared spaces.

Her work is rooted in inclusivity, collaboration, and creativity, and we’re thrilled to have her leading the charge as we grow our community presence in new and exciting ways.

Sophie holds a degree in Art History from Loyola Marymount University, and when she’s not building community, you might find her exploring local art spaces, enjoying Tacoma’s waterfront, or connecting with folks who care about this city as much as she does.

Please join us in giving Sophie a warm welcome—we can’t wait for you to meet her!

336 POUNDS CLEANER, THANKS TO YOU!

We’re still riding the wave of gratitude from an incredible beach clean up and Gose With The Flow launch weekend! A huge thanks to everyone who came out for our beach cleanup along the Les Davis Pier and Ruston Way waterfront in partnership with our friends at South Sound Surfrider and an amazing crew of volunteers. Together, we picked up a whopping 336 pounds of trash from our shoreline. That’s 336 pounds of plastic, debris, and pollution that won’t be making its way into Commencement Bay!

After the hard work, we celebrated in style with the launch of our limited-edition collaboration beer, Gose With The Flow, at Peaks and Pints. A big shout-out to Peaks and Pints for hosting, and to everyone who came to raise a glass to clean water and community action. If you haven’t tried it yet, don’t worry, you can still catch it on tap or in select stores while supplies last (https://www.healthybay.org/gose-with-the-flow/) !

Your time, your energy, your support—it all adds up to a cleaner, healthier community. Thank you for standing with us, taking action, and showing just how much we can accomplish when we work together.

Sip for a Cause at Wooden City

All of March and April | Wooden City Tacoma

We’re honored to be featured as Wooden City Tacoma’s nonprofit partner for their Draft Old Fashioned donation program this March and April! For every Draft Old Fashioned sold, $1 will be donated to Communities for a Healthy Bay to support our work protecting the South Sounds’s environment and waterways. This community giveback program rotates every two months and we’re thrilled that CHB is on the menu just in time for Earth Day. So next time you’re out at Wooden City, raise a glass to clean water, healthy neighborhoods, and the power of local action. Cheers to that!

Our work to protect the South Sound’s waterways, wildlife, and communities is only possible with supporters like you. Whether it’s advocating for stronger protections, taking legal actions, or advancing awareness, your donation helps fuel real change.
